WATCH: Kris Bryant leaves candy in left field for Kyle Schwarber |
CHICAGO — A light-hearted moment on a memorable night at Wrigley Field involved Chicago Cubs slugger Kris Bryant leaving a gift in the outfield for former teammate Kyle Schwarber. With Bryant and Schwarber both starting in left field on Monday, Bryant piled up a sizable serving of candy on the outfield grass and left it for Schwarber to find and enjoy once he took his position in the ensuing half-inning.
A fan in the left field bleachers captured Schwarber discovering the mound of candy and expressing his gratitude to Bryant, who was in the Cubs' dugout, from afar. Monday's contest marked Schwarber's return to the Friendly Confines, with the Washington Nationals left fielder facing off against the Cubs for the first time since singing with the Nats in the offseason. Bryant made the special occasion even more special for Schwarber by appeasing his sweet tooth. KB left @kschwarb12 some candy on the field between innings lol pic.twitter.com/I9uF9oite5
