Ian Happ wants to be a Cubs player "for life" |
Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ is putting together a solid 2022 season offensively and defensively.
For the season, he is hitting .269 with six homers and 29 RBIs while playing error-free defense in left field. Happ sat down this week with NBC Sports Chicago's David Kaplan for an interview expressing his desire to say long-term with the Northsiders. "This is the best place in the world to play baseball, with this fan base, this organization, the history, what it's meant to me coming up here," Happ told Kaplan. "There's a lot of factors that go into it. I would love nothing more than to be a Cub for life, but you never get to control those things." It would be a shame if the Cubs ended up trading away or not locking up Happ to a long-term extension because his best years are likely ahead for him.
