Tough news to report today.
Chicago Bears Hall-of-Famer Steve McMichael will be moved to hospice care on Wednesday. McMichael has been removed from a ventilator in the ICU and placed in a hospice facility. His wife Misty confirmed the news to FOX 32: "As of today, Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox has recommended to the family to transfer Steve into a Joliet hospice facility this afternoon," she said. "He’s been unresponsive for the last two weeks and in and out of the hospital. He’s currently in the ICU at Silver Cross." He was diagnosed with ALC in January 2021. Over 13 remarkable seasons with the Bears, McMichael racked up 92.5 sacks—the second-most in franchise history. He was rightfully honored with induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame last summer. We at ChicagoBearsHQ extend our deepest prayers and unwavering support to Mongo’s family, friends, and fans during this difficult time.
