Cubs reliever Luke Little exits game with injury |
Another injury for the Cubs bullpen.
During Friday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs left-handed reliever Luke Little had to leave the field in the eighth inning due to a left shoulder injury. The incident occurred just four pitches into his at-bat against Cardinals outfielder Lars Nootbaar. Little experienced pain in his shoulder and was forced to exit the game immediately alongside trainer Nick Frangella. Mark Leiter Jr. replaced Little in the game. “Obviously, when you have to take a guy out of the game with an arm injury, there’s concern,” Cubs manager Craig Counsell stated after the game. “He had some shoulder discomfort, and we’ll need to figure out what’s going on.” Little has been a key player in the Cubs bullpen this season appearing in 30 games, registering a 3-1 record with a solid 3.46 ERA. He had not allowed a run in his last nine appearances. With Little sidelined, veteran Drew Smyly is currently the lone lefty in the Cubs bullpen. The Cubs will likely update his injury evaluation during pregame of Saturday's contest against the Cards. Luke Little is hurt and has to exit the game.
