Three more options for Bears next head coach

by - Senior Writer -

We recently began looking at the potential head coach options for the Chicago Bears, who are once again looking for a new man in charge. Given what we know now and how many names have been linked to the Bears already, it will be impossible to dive into every candidate this early, as more names will be added to the list.

Instead, it's easier to break the candidates into tiers, as 17 names have been named as fits for Chicago. Some are more logical hires than others, but this list tells us that the Bears are not only looking at every angle when it comes to hiring their next head coach, but they are going to have plenty of interest across the board, which is all you can ask for.

Expect Caleb Williams to have some input on who is coming in. It will be up to the next coach to get the most out of Williams and take his talents to the next level. Yesterday, we listed some names who should be at the top of the list for the Bears to pursue. Today, it's the tier 2 coaching category, also known as some of the more intriguing options.

The names listed in this section have the potential to be good head coaches, but given the situation in Chicago, it may not be a great fit for them at this point in their careers.

Thomas Brown

You can't start this tier without talking about Thomas Brown, who is the acting head coach for the rest of the season.

After getting promoted to OC three weeks ago after Shane Waldron was fired, Brown has received another promotion, this time as he has taken over for Matt Eberflus. That shows how the organization feels about him, and if you have watched this team over the past three weeks, you can tell they love Brown.

This is his chance to audition for the Bears and other head coach openings that will be popping up sooner rather than later.

Brian Flores

Another name that has been on the radar of many teams is Brian Flores, who will once again see his name linked to every opening.

Flores is no stranger to the head coaching ranks, as he was the head coach of the Miami Dolphins from 2019-2021. Following a strange situation that led to him suing the NFL, Flores has established himself as one of the game's best defensive minds and is currently the DC of the Minnesota Vikings. Allowing him to run your franchise is a smart move, but one that will come with plenty of drama.

Those are two of the most likely candidates to receive interviews at some point this offseason, but what about some of the other coordinators looking to start their head coach journey?

Joe Brady

Any time you have a team with this much offensive talent, you would like to have an offensive mind running the show, which is where Joe Brady comes into play.

Mark Rhule let the former Carolina Panther OC go after they could not get along. Following his release, Brady wasn't out of work long and linked up with the Buffalo Bills, where he has been ever since.

Initially a quarterback coach for the Bills while Ken Dorsey was the offensive coordinator, Brady has now taken on that role and has held it for the past two seasons. You have seen the success the Bills offense has had with Brady calling the shots, but it's Josh Allen's play that has him as an intriguing pickup.

Allen is not only playing the best football of his career right now, but he has also cemented himself right in the middle of the MVP conversation. Brady is a big reason for that, as Allen has bought into his coaching and looks like a completely different player because of a hit. With Williams possessing many of the same traits as Allen, this is one of those up-and-coming coaches you would love to see get his chance and the Bears from losers into winners.
