Bears Media Relations -

The Chicago Bears on Wednesday acquired offensive linemen Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson via trade. Thuney was acquired from the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a 2026 fourth-round selection from the Bears and Jackson was acquired from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round selection from Chicago (via Pittsburgh).

Thuney, a four-time AP All-Pro selection and four-time Super Bowl champion, has started all 167 of his career games played (postseason included) along the offensive fronts of the New England Patriots (2016-20) and Kansas City Chiefs (2021-24). After being selected by the Patriots in the third round (78th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft, Thuney started every game for New England over the next five seasons, totaling 80 regular-season games and 10 postseason outings, including three-straight Super Bowl appearances and two World Championships. After signing with the Chiefs in 2021, Thuney went on to start 77 total games for Kansas City, including 11 playoff games, at left guard and left tackle. Over his nine professional seasons, Thuney has helped lead his teams to secure six AFC Championships, tallying four Super Bowl titles. Thuney, who earned AP First-Team All-Pro honors in 2023 and 2024, and second-team acknowledgment in 2019 and 2022, has also been named to the Pro Bowl each of the last three seasons (2022-24). A native of Centerville, Ohio, Thuney appeared in 41 games, starting each of his final 33 appearances, during his collegiate career at North Carolina State (2011-15), where he was named First-Team All-America following his final season with the Wolfpack (2015).

Jackson, a 2021 Pro Bowl selection with the Detroit Lions, has started all 61 of his regular-season appearances for the Lions (2020-23) and Los Angeles Rams (2024) since entering the league as a third-round selection (75th overall) by Detroit in the 2020 NFL Draft. Over his five professional seasons, Jackson has logged starts at both guard positions and at center, including 16 starts at left guard in 2021 for the Lions, securing Pro Bowl honors. In 2023, Jackson started at left guard in each of Detroit's final sixregular-season games, as well as two postseason outings, en route to the Lions' appearance in the NFC Championship Game. A native of Media, Pa., Jackson prepped collegiately at Rutgers (2015-18) and Ohio State (2019). After earning Honorable Mention All-Big Ten Conference recognition following his final season at Rutgers, Jackson transferred to Ohio State, where he started all 14 games along the offensive front for the Big Ten-champion Buckeyes in 2019, finishing the season with First-Team All-Big Ten honors.

Following the trade for Jackson, the Bears now hold seven picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.
