Kyle Schwarber to join Cubs on Tuesday |
Cubs catcher Kyle Schwarber played DH Saturday night for the Mesa's taxi squad in the the Arizona Fall League.
Schwarber will DH again on Monday night and then expected to join the team in Cleveland for Tuesday's World Series. The Cubs do not have to announce their official World Series roster until Tuesday morning. "If we do put him on the roster, it's because we think he can hit a homer, honestly," Jed Hoyer said on Monday afternoon. Regardless, Schwarber will be with the team and signs are pointing up on his DH possibility against Cleveland. If he doesn't make the roster, it still has been an amazing recovery from his ACL injury at the beginning of the season. In 2015, Schwarber hit .246 with 16 home runs, 43 RBIs with an excellent .842 OPS in only 69 games (273 at-bats) in his rookie season. In nine career postseason games, he hit .333 with five homers in only nine games. #Cubs Kyle Schwarber... place for him at media day!
