NFL Draft: Bears select Florida DT with second-round pick |
The Chicago Bears selected defensive tackle Gervon Dexter Sr. with the No. 53 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft on Friday night.
"I'm that guy who can get going and cause havoc and wreck the game," Dexter told the media on Friday night. He put on an impressive performance at the NFL scouting combine with a 1.81 10-yard split and a 4.88 40-yard dash. During his three seasons with the Gators, Dexter saw action in at least 10 games every year and finished with 36 games of college experience. When on the field, he came away with 125 tackles, including 105 in the past two seasons. To go with that, Dexter came away with 10.5 tackles for a loss and five sacks. In 2022, he had 55 tackles, four tackles for a loss and two sacks in 13 games. Not a ton of production at the college level, but definitely has the ability to make an impact at the next level for the Bears. Dexter is the second Gator to have his name called during the 2023 NFL Draft. The moment dreams came true. @GervonDexter x @ChicagoBears pic.twitter.com/reRqqMKpHz
