ESPN's Mike Greenberg believes he knows who Bears are picking at No. 9 |
The excitement surrounding the 2023 NFL Draft is palpable, and one of the most intriguing storylines is the Chicago Bears and their plans for the No. 9 overall pick.
Thanks to ESPN’s Mike Greenberg, there is now some buzz around the Bears selecting Jalen Carter with that pick. During an appearance on the Waddle & Silvy Show on Wednesday, Greenberg shared his intel that he believes that the Bears will go defense with Georgia defensive lineman Jalen Carter. “(The Bears) are going to take Jalen Carter,” Greenberg said. “I’m telling you what the buzz is everywhere here … all of the buzz is Jalen Carter is going nine to Chicago.” If the Bears do indeed select Carter, it would be a massive win for a team that is looking to improve its defense after a lackluster 2022 season. Carter is a dominant force on the defensive line and would fit perfectly into head coach Matt Eberflus’ system. At 6-foot-3 and 305 pounds, Carter possesses the size and athleticism to wreak havoc on opposing offenses. He has the ability to penetrate the line of scrimmage and disrupt plays in the backfield, and his strength allows him to hold his ground against the run. Plugging him into the 3-tech role would instantly transform Chicago’s defensive front. With his combination of size, strength, and athleticism, Carter has the potential to be a transformational talent on the defensive line and help turn the Bears’ defense into one of the best in the NFL. The 2023 NFL draft is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Eastern and run through 11:30 p.m on ABC, ESPN, and the NFL Network.
