Bears News: Darnell Mooney injury update |
Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney is still feeling the effects of the ankle injury that ended his 2022 season prematurely.
However, there is hope that he will be ready to go when training camp begins this summer. “He’s great with his rehab," Bears wide receivers coach Tyke Tolbert to the media recently. "He’s running right now. He’s doing well. His attitude has been great. He’s in here every single day." Mooney, who led the Bears in both receptions (40) and receiving yards (493) in 2022, has been present at the team's facility this offseason and has been focused on rehabbing his injury. Tolbert is "certainly hopeful" that Mooney will be ready for training camp, which would allow him to work with new Bear receive DJ Moore and more time with former Pittsburgh Steeler Chase Claypool. Back in 2021, when Mooney had a full healthy season, he had 81 catches for 1,055 yards and four touchdowns. With a healthy Mooney back in the lineup, the Bears offense could take a big step forward in 2023.
