Bears announce hiring of their new defensive coordinator

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Bears announced on Wednesday that former Colts defensive backs coach Alan Williams is the new defensive coordinator.

Williams has 30 years of coaching experience, with 21 of them coming in the NFL. He coached the Lions' secondary from 2014-2017 and was the defensive coordinator in Minnesota from 2012-2013.

In other coaching news, former Colts linebacker coach Dave Borgonzi is the new linebackers coach for the Bears.

Borgonzi has 16 years of coaching experience, with 11 of them in the NFL.

These are solid hires as the Colts ranked in the top 10 in NFL in run defense and turnovers the last four seasons.

They were also the least penalized team in the NFL in 2019 and 2021, which shows they were a disciplined team.

More to come on this breaking news.
