Bears News: David Bote injured in pre-game warmups |
This is not good news to report.
Cubs second baseman David Bote appeared to be in some pain and he went down with some type of lower leg injury during batting practice on Friday before the Crosstown Classic. Bote injured himself tripping on a baseball that he didn't see and appeared to be in some serious pain before limping to the clubhouse. He walked off with athletic trainer PJ Mainville. Bote was penciled in to bat fifth and play second base tonight but we will likely see him a scratch shortly unless he miraculously looks a lot better shortly. Stay tuned to CubsHQ as we will update when we hear an update on Bote's condition from the Cubs. Cubs and the White Sox kick off the Crosstown Class at 7:10 p.m. CT at Guaranteed Rate Field. Update: Bote is a late injury scratch as Matt Duffy will play second, Ian Happ in left field, and Patrick Wisdom to third base. Cubs announce that Bote's injury is a right ankle sprain.
