Vegas Odds: Bears vs Jaguars

by - Correspondent -

After winning their second straight game, the Chicago Bears are favored to win their third straight when they face the Jacksonville Jaguars this coming Sunday in London (8:30 a.m. / NFL Network).

According to DraftKings, the spread for this game is 1.5 points, and the over / under is 44.5.

It is surprising that a team with one of the best defenses in the league will only be favored to be the Jacksonville Jaguars by 1.5 points when they have only scored over 20 points just once. The Bears offense is gelling as rookie quarterback Caleb Williams has strong chemistry with wide receiver DJ Moore. There is no reason to think the Bears will lose this game, nor that this will be a one-point game. Therefore, I bet on Chicago covering the spread.

This over/under is the highest over/under since the Bears took on the Houston Texans back in week two. That game hit the under as the Chicago defense held the Texans to 19 points. However, Chicago’s offense was very different in that game, and the Texans defense is better than Jacksonville’s defense. Therefore, this game will hit the over. The Jaguars are not going to put up 37 points like last week, but between the Bears offense and the points Jacksonville does put up, the total in this game should be at least 45 points.

As Williams continues to be more productive in the passing game, the betting on his passing yards is slowly coming along but is not quite there. Going against the worst passing defense in the NFL, DraftKings currently has +300 odds for him to throw for at least 300 passing yards, something he has done in two games already. He will do it again against Jacksonville en route to leading Chicago to their fourth win of the season.

Moore is the No. 1 receiver in Chicago and will get a lot of yards in this game, especially if Williams has over 300 passing yards. So, it seems like a good bet for Moore to get at least 70 receiving yards, which DraftKings currently has at +100 odds. However, another wide receiver prop includes Keenan Allen, who has been quiet since joining the Bears. In the three games he has been available, Allen has only put up 81 yards.

However, offensive coordinator Shane Waldron said the offense's goal is to get the ball to Allen more. That could be an indicator that he will have more yards in this game. DraftKings has his odds of reaching 50 receiving yards at +100. The six-time Pro-Bowler will hit that total going against a poor passing defense in Jacksonville.

If the over will hit in this game, Chicago will need Moore to score a touchdown. He had two touchdowns last week, giving him three in the past two games. Jacksonville happens to be allowing the third-most passing touchdowns in the league through the first five weeks with 10. So, this seems like a prime matchup for Moore to get his fourth touchdown of the season. He also has the second-best odds to score a touchdown out of anyone on the Bears, with DraftKings giving him +135 odds to get in the endzone in this matchup.

Same Game Parlay

With a single-game parlay on DraftKings for the Bears to cover the spread, the over-hit, Williams throwing for at least 300 yards, Moore having at least 70 receiving yards and scoring a touchdown, and Allen hitting at least 50 receiving yards, the odds are +3400 for all of these to hit. Therefore, a $5 bet results in a $175 payout.
