Roster Moves: Bears release quarterback, sign two defensive players

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Bears announced on Tuesday that they have released quarterback Trace McSorley and have signed free agent safety Adrian Colbert and defensive end Michael Dwumfour to the practice squad.

McSorley threw for 9,899 yards and 77 touchdowns and only 25 touchdowns during his college years at Penn State.

He was drafted in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

McSorley was needed when Bagent was starting, and Fields was out, as there wasn't much depth at the quarterback position. Now that there is a healthy Fields and Bagent and Nathan Peterman, there isn't a really need for a fourth quarterback.

Colbert is a veteran who has played in 21 games, including 12 starts. He played two games for the Bears last season.

Dwumfour is an undrafted defensive lineman out of Michigan and Rutgers.

Both players will give some depth to their respective positions for the Bears.
