Chicago Sports HQ Podcast: Cubs finally win a game, Nico Hoerner talk, Trevor Story, more |
Today on Chicago Sports HQ Chatter, Cole and I look back on the week that was Chicago sports with the Cubs finally winning their first home game since making all the trades.
As fun as it was to win again, things haven't gone so well for this team as they continue to struggle to find wins. With Nico Hoerner down with an injury again, what is his future now that Nick Madrigal has been added to the team. In the aftermath of the Trevor Story comments, would he seriously consider coming to Chicago, and should the Cubs make a play for him in free agency? While the Cubs go through their struggles, the White Sox have also experienced some letdowns over the past week as they have played some impressive competition. Has Tony La Russa's decision to use Craig Kimbrel in the eighth instead of the ninth cost this team some games, and will he ultimately man up and make the switch by postseason? The Bears were dismantled in their second preseason game as their old friend came to town and ripped them apart. How much of Mitch Trubisky's start was based on playing against second-stringers, and how much was playing calling the reason. We also look at the Bears offensive line issues, and current roster battles up for grabs. With Oklahoma and Texas leaving the BIG 12 for the SEC, the domino effect is about to fall as the ACC, BIG 10, and PAC 12 are all set to make an alliance together. What does this mean for not only NCAA football, but for the NCAA landscape in general? Cole and I close out the show by discussing the Bulls, Blackhawks, Fire, and Sky tidbits.
