CINCINNATI — Chicago Cubs left fielder Ian Happ has a knack for showing out at the plate when playing at Great American Ball Park. The former Cincinnati Bearcats slugger must enjoy returning to the Queen City, as he went yard for the second straight game in Cincinnati when he skied a first-inning bomb on Wednesday that put the Cubs up 1-0 over the Reds.
Taking starter Tyler Mahle deep with two outs in the opening frame, Happ blasted a 427-foot solo shot out to right. Happ previously hit a solo jack to right in the Cubs' 2-1 win over the Reds on Tuesday. Happ's 14th long ball and 34th RBI of the year, Wednesday's dinger came on a 93.8-mph four-seamer and left the bat at 107 mph and 30 degrees.
