WATCH: David Bote makes great barehanded play to rob Reds player of infield single |
CINCINNATI — Showing off his defensive prowess while manning second base for the Chicago Cubs, David Bote charged a slow roller and made a barehanded play to end third inning at Great American Ball Park on Tuesday. Cincinnati Reds second baseman Jonathan India hit a grounder in the 3-4 hole, and Bote's web gem robbed him of an infield single.
Bote recognized that he had to be fast in order to throw out the speedy India, so he grabbed the baseball with his bare hand and sidearmed a toss to first baseman Frank Schwindel. Schwindel gloved the ball just in the nick of time, resulting in an inning-ending putout made possible by Bote's quick thinking. The Bote barehand! pic.twitter.com/9pLjAJLpc4
