Cubs reliever Codi Heuer undergoes Tommy John surgery, likely to miss 2022 season |
Chicago Cubs reliever Codi Heuer has undergone Tommy Surgery, according to multiple reports.
Heuer confirmed the reports as he posted an Instagram picture of him after the successful surgery at the hospital. “Horses don’t stop, they keep going,” Heuer posted. “Can’t wait to be back with the best fans in baseball again.” Heuer had a 3.14 ERA in 25 appearances (28.2 innings total) with the Cubs last season. This is a tough break for the Northsiders as Heuer was going to be counted on greatly this season, especially around the 8th inning in high-leverage situations. He will likely be shut down for the whole 2022 season. Next man up will be the mantra for the Cubs bullpen once the lockout finally ends. The 25-year-old was traded alongside Nick Madrigal last season for standout reliever Craig Kimbrel.
