Chicago Cubs announce updated 2022 season schedule

CHICAGO – Major League Baseball and the Chicago Cubs today announced the updated 2022 regular season schedule. The Cubs will open their 147th season at Wrigley Field Thursday, April 7, against the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Cubs will begin the 2022 campaign at home for the third consecutive year, after the club opened the 2021 season at Wrigley Field against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Cubs and Brewers opened the shortened 2020 season in Chicago.

Following the season-opening, four-game homestand against the Brewers, the Cubs head out on a six-game trip to Pittsburgh (April 12-13) and Colorado (April 14-17), before returning to Chicago for seven games against Tampa Bay (April 18-20) and Pittsburgh (April 21-24).

The 2022 schedule is highlighted by interleague play against the American League East plus the annual home-and-home with the Chicago White Sox, which features a pair of two-game series from May 3-4 (at Wrigley Field) and May 28-29 (at Guaranteed Rate Field).

In addition to the games against the White Sox, the Cubs interleague schedule includes hosting three A.L. East opponents: the Tampa Bay Rays (three games, April 18-20), the Boston Red Sox (three games, July 1-3) and the Baltimore Orioles (two games, July 12-13). The Cubs also travel to Baltimore (two games, June 7-8), New York (three games, June 10-12) and Toronto (three games, August 29-31).

The Cubs will play two scheduled split doubleheaders on Saturday, June 4 and Tuesday, August 23 at against the St. Louis Cardinals, making up for the games previously scheduled on April 4 and 6 respectively. The make-up games will act as the first game in each doubleheader.

Unique to the 2022 season, the Cubs will travel to Dyersville, IA for a matchup against the Cincinnati Reds in the MLB at Field of Dreams presented by GEICO Thursday, August 11.

The Cubs are scheduled to host three holiday games in 2022: Mother’s Day, May 8 vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers; Memorial Day, May 30 vs. Milwaukee Brewers; and Father’s Day, June 19 vs. the Atlanta Braves. The Cubs will be on the road for the Fourth of July at Milwaukee. Chicago is off on Labor Day, September 5.

On Friday, March 18, at 10 a.m. CDT, fans can purchase tickets for regular season home games at www.cubs.com/tickets or by calling the Cubs Ticket Office at 800-THE-CUBS (800-843-2827). There is a six-ticket purchase limit for Diamond games per household, credit card or email address, and a 14-ticket limit for all other games. There is a maximum limit of 40 total tickets per order.

Tickets for group outings, premier rentals and ticket packs for the regular season are also available. Fans are encouraged to secure tickets ahead of general on-sale Friday, March 18.
