Bears News: Phillies reportedly have Cody Bellinger as a top trade priority |
The Chicago Cubs are still reportedly "undecided" whether they will be buyers or sellers before the 2024 trade deadline.
The determining factor will likely be whether the Northsiders go on a decent winning streak, which will give the front office and fans optimism that they might get into contention for the National League Wild Card. However, that hasn't stopped the Philadelphia Phillies from thinking about bolstering their talented lineup with an impact bat, potentially targeting Cubs outfielder Cody Bellinger. Bellinger is hitting .266 with nine homers and 37 RBIs this season. According to MLB analyst Jim Bowden, "They really wanna figure out center field. And so Luis Robert of the White Sox, Jazz Chisholm of the Miami Marlins, and Cody Bellinger of the Cubs have been their top priority." The Phillies are pretty focused on getting one of those three players before the trade deadline. "The Phillies have made it clear to every general manager in the game that they talked to or President; that's their goal. That's their target. That's it." Jim Bowden on the Phillies Deadline plan:
