Bears News: Nico Hoerner injury update

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs are the walking wounded, as it seems that about everyone on the team has been or is currently on the injured list.

Cubs second baseman Nico Hoerner is one of those injured with a right hamstring injury and has missed four straight games.

Cubs manager Craig Counsell said that the gold-glove second baseman is currently day-to-day with the injury.

"He's going about his work today," Counsell said on Friday. "And we'll see how we're doing kind of daily. We're day-to-day with it, but there is still something there."

Counsell hopes they don't have to put Hoerner on the injured list.

"We'd like to avoid it," Counsell said about the possibility of the IL. "But obviously, if it's still lingering, then it's on the table."

Hoerner is batting .269 with two homers and 12 RBIs in 41 games this season.
