Roster Moves: Cubs place Cody Bellinger on IL, call up Pete Crow-Armstrong |
CHICAGO, Ill. – The Chicago Cubs today placed outfielder Cody Bellinger (right rib fracture) on the 10-day injured list and recalled outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong from Triple-A Iowa.
Crow-Armstrong, 22, is hitting .203 (16-for-79) with two home runs and seven RBI in 19 games with Triple-A Iowa this season. His 12 runs, two triples and five stolen bases each lead the I-Cubs. He entered the 2024 season as the Cubs top prospect and No. 16 prospect overall according to MLB Pipeline. Last season, he batted .283 (124-for-438) with 26 doubles, seven triples, 20 home runs, 82 RBI and 37 stolen bases in 107 games between Triple-A Iowa and Double-A Tennessee. He made his major league debut on Sept. 11, 2023 and played 13 games with the Cubs, picking up three walks, one RBI and two stolen bases. He participated in the 2022 and 2023 Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game in Los Angeles and Seattle, respectively. Drafted by the New York Mets in the first round (19th overall) of the 2020 First-Year Player Draft, Crow-Armstrong was acquired by the Cubs July 30, 2021 in exchange for SS Javier Baez and RHP Trevor Williams. Bellinger, 28, is hitting .226 (19-for-84) with five home runs and a team-high 17 RBI in 22 games this season.
