Bears host former Cardinals receiver Rondale Moore

Although things may have quieted down significantly for the Bears last week, Ryan Poles still made another offensive signing to improve the Bears offense. This time, it was the addition of former Atlanta Falcon and Washington Commanders wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus as he came to terms on a one-year contract with the Bears.

As things sit, Zaccheaus is expected to take over the No. 3 wide receiver role for next season, which means that Keenan Allen's time in Chicago is all but over. However, there could be a scenario where Zaccheaus may wind up being the No. 4 wide receiver on this roster, and if that is the case, he would be the best No. 4 option in the NFL. Much of that hinges on what happens later this week as the Bears are bringing in free agent wide receiver Randale Moore for a visit with the hopes of adding him to this roster.

After visiting with the Vikings last week and leaving without a contract, the door opened for other teams to bring in Moore, and the Bears didn't hesitate to schedule a meeting with him later today. The soon-to-be fifth-year wideout was a second-round pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2021, where he emerged as a solid No. 2 or No. 3 option for Kyler Murray and that offense.

Across three seasons with the Cardinals, Moore was not only a key piece to their offense but also had plenty of success when called upon. In the passing game, he totaled 135 receptions for 1201 yards and three scores. He also added 249 yards on the ground off 52 carries and one score, proving he is more than just a pass-catching threat.

Following his three-year run with the Cardinals, Moore was traded to Atlanta ahead of the 2024 NFL season in a deal that sent Desmond Ridder to Arizona to become the backup. What looked to be an excellent pickup for the Falcons to pair with Drake London and Darnell Mooney was a nightmare as Moore injured his knee in training camp and was placed on season-ending IR.

Now a free agent for the first time in his career, Moore is not only looking to latch on to someone, but also looking for an opportunity to prove his injury is behind him and to show that he still has something left in the tank to offer. Even if his four-year totals don't look great, those numbers are based on three seasons, as he was unable to take the field last year.

For the most part, he has been a very consistent option in the passing game, with his best season coming as a rookie when he picked up 435 yards on 54 catches and one score. Apart from that, he has consistently sat around the 350-400 yard range each season as he has shown the ability to be a threat in the passing game, but for whatever reason, he wasn't given the opportunity many thought he would have.

Should the Bears like what they see from him, not only would he move into the no. 3 WR spot, but he would be in a position to have the best season of his career as DJ Moore and Rome Odunze would create plenty of opportunities for him. One of the smaller receivers in the NFL, the former Purdue University standout comes in at 5-7 and weighs 178 pounds. His lack of overall size takes him out of play to be an outside receiver, but he is the perfect slot guy, which the Bears have lacked in seasons past.

What Moore lacks in size, he makes up for in playmaking ability, as he has plenty of speed and is elusive enough to make guys miss to create something out of nothing. Whether or not he is 100% at this point is another question, but from all accounts, he should be good to go by training camp, and his addition to the Bears offense would cap off what has been by far the best offseason this team has had in years.
