Roster Moves: Cubs reduce spring roster to 42 players

MESA, Ariz. – The Chicago Cubs today reduced the spring roster from 53 to 42 players.

Right-handed pitcher Ethan Roberts and left-handed pitcher Luke Little have been optioned to Triple-A Iowa.

Right-handed pitchers Phil Bickford, Chris Flexen, Ben Heller, Brooks Kriske and Trevor Richards; infielders Jonathon Long and James Triantos; and outfielders Greg Allen and Christian Franklin have been returned to minor league camp.

Chicago’s spring roster of 42 players consists of 21 pitchers (three non-roster invitees), five catchers (three non-roster invitees), ten infielders (two non-roster invitees) and six outfielders (one non-roster invitees).
