Hello, Cubs fans out there! I hope everyone is having a great day.

Check out the latest news, photos, and tidbits from spring training with the Cubbies with our latest edition of Cubs News and Notes.

We will try to have this feature several times a week, so everyone gets a summary of what is happening regularly at Cubs camp.

Let's get right to all the Cubs notes!

Jake Arrieta made his spring debut on Sunday against the Diamondbacks and pitched two scoreless innings.

Arrieta talked to the media after his outing about his motivation to be back with Cubs.

"Does that mean I couldn’t have pitched somewhere else successfully? No," he said. "But it definitely doesn’t hurt to have guys like David in the dugout as my manager now, playing alongside KB, Rizzo and Javy and Hendricks. The list goes on."

Cubs catcher Willson Contreras smacked a solo homer in the first inning to put the Cubs on the board early:

Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo aka 'Tony 2 Chainz' smacked a two-run shot for his second homer of spring:

Cubs reliever Pedro Strop will have to isolate after being out at dinner on Friday night with an Indians player:

Jake Arrieta was asked about Strop having to isolate and missing time.

"None of us are going to be mad at Pedro. It’s just a little slip-up. It’s a moment for us to realize that we need to take the protocols seriously and keep everybody as safe as possible so we can play all 162 this year."

Davis Ross had the following comment about Strop missing time because of breaking COVID-19 protocol.

“To be honest with you, it’s a good reminder that we need to continue to follow protocols. It’s easy to get into this environment and relax.”
