WATCH: Willson Contreras guns down Mookie Betts at first base |
LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Mookie Betts tested Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras' right arm and paid the price. Caught straying too far from first base, Betts was gunned down by Contreras on a pickoff play, which featured first baseman Anthony Rizzo applying the tag.
With Zach Davies on the mound at Dodger Stadium, Betts led off the bottom of the third by drawing a walk. Davies then received some help from behind the plate, as his batterymate picked off Betts at first base. Betts was initially called safe on his dive back to the bag, but a successful Cubs challenge overturned the call. So picky. #CubTogether pic.twitter.com/w5m4EM0ULz
