Cubs reliever signs with Padres

Righty reliever Trevor Cahill has signed a one-year contract worth 1.75 million with the San Diego Padres. He will get his chance to start games with his new team.

Cahill had 2.74 ERA with 64 strikeouts and 1.28 ERA last season with the Cubs. For his career, he has 4.05 ERA with a save, 820 strikeouts, and 1.36 WHIP.

He was drafted by Oakland in the second round of the 2006 MLB Draft and was an All-Star for the Athletics back in 2010.
