Cubs reliever leaves game with injury |
The Cubs bullpen has been depleted as of late with the injuries to reliever Carl Edwards Jr. and standout closer Brandon Morrow.
It just got a little worse on Saturday as reliever Rob Zastryzny left the game due to an injury in the sixth inning. Cubs catcher Willson Contreras noticed that he was gradually throwing differently and went to the mound so that manager Joe Maddon could pull him. For the season, he has a 1-0 record with 2.08 ERA in four appearances with the Cubs. The Cubs said following the game that his lower back tightened up and it's not considered serious. The team will more than likely move a roster move before tomorrow's game because they have a very overworked group of relievers. The plan is to start Tyler Chatwood on Sunday but he is on baby watch with his wife expecting any day. If he can not go tomorrow, Mike Montgomery will get the start. The Cubs would ideally like to hold Montgomery until Monday against the Dodgers.
