Cubs reliever activated from DL |
Cubs veteran reliever Koji Uehara has been activated from the disabled list on Sunday as reliever Rob Zastryzny is headed back to Triple-A Iowa after his brief stay with the Cubs.
Koji Uehara left August 8's game in the seventh inning against the Giants with a stiff neck. The 42-year old's right neck injury is a cause of concern because he has a 5.40 ERA in nine appearances after the All-Star break. For the season, Uehara has 3.55 ERA with two saves, 45 strikeouts, and 1.11 WHIP. During his MLB career, he has a sparkling 2.61 ERA with 95 saves, 567 strikeouts, and 0.88 WHIP. In other roster news, catcher Rene Rivera will join the club today as rookie catcher Victor Caratini was optioned to Triple-A Iowa.
