Cubs coach tested positive for COVID-19

by - Senior Editor -

COVID-19 is still very contagious as it is spiking in many parts of the country.

The Chicago Cubs announced on Thursday that their quality assurance coach Mike Napoli had been away from the team since Summer Camp began because he tested positive for COVID-19 before arrival.

"We’re really looking forward to getting Napoli back and hopeful that he can re-join us soon," Cubs President of Operations Theo Epstein said Thursday to the media.

Napolis gave the team permission to release this information.

This is the second Cubs coach that has tested positive for the coronavirus along with pitching coach Tommy Hottovy.

Fortunately for the Cubs, Napoli has been working out with Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo this offseason being his neighbor in Florida, but only Napoli tested positive for COVID-19.

Best wishes to Napoli, and hopefully he has a full recovery quickly and is back with his team as they try to do big things in 2020.

So far, the Cubs are currently the only team in baseball not to have a player test positive for COVID-19.
