The Chicago Cubs have added righty reliever Tony Barnette to the 40-man roster and activated him from the 60-day IL (right shoulder tightness) on Sunday. To make room, the team has optioned righty reliever Rowan Wick.

Barnette has a 0.00 ERA with nine strikeouts (27.9% K rate), one hit, and one walk (4.7% walk rate) in his last 8 1/3 innings pitched in Iowa. Overall, he has a 1-0 record with a 2.31 ERA in 11.2 innings this season. He hasn't pitched in the majors since last July 3. He has a 750K salary this season and has a club option in 2020 for $3 million.

In 2018 with the Rangers, he had an impressive season with a 2.39 ERA and 0.911 WHIP in 22 appearances.

In other Cubs roster news, pitcher Kendall Graveman who signed a one-year deal for a club option in 2020 was seen playing catch in the outfield on Sunday according to reports. He is still recovering from Tommy John surgery that he underwent last July.
