More roster moves by the Chicago Cubs.

Infielder David Bote reportedly has been optioned to Iowa to make room for veteran reliever Steve Cishek who will likely come off the 10-day injured list (left hip inflammation) on Tuesday.

Bote is batting .257 with ten homers and 40 RBIs this season.

For his career, he is a .250 hitter with 16 homers and 73 RBIs in 310 plate appearances. The 26-year-old signed a five-year, $15 million contract at the beginning of this season. He is still in the club's plans, as he just needs some regular at-bats in the minors to keep him sharp while the team adds their veteran reliever for a tough series against the Giants at home. Bote will be back when the rosters expand in September for the stretch run.

Cishek has a 3.58 ERA with seven saves, 46 strikeouts, and an impressive 1.17 WHIP this season.

He has been out ten days with his left hip injury, and he appears healthy because he will not have to go on a rehab stint.
