Before shipping Contreras, who, in my opinion will surpass Molina in all areas in due time. Carantini needs another year to prove this year was not just a career year. I'd keep them both and ship Bryant to wherever we can get the most pitching in return. I love Bryant and he has been most everything the Cubs expected, but we have to look to the future and we are in desperate need of a complete starting and bullpen overhaul . No one in our minor leagues will be ready for at least a couple of years. I,for one don't want to wait that long.
A second baseman and a bona-fide leadoff hitter has got to be in the mix, and maybe a new trainer. Why so many long term injuries? Just doesn't make sense with today's technology. The players agents need to keep their nose out of the field of play.
I hate to say it but maybe we need to change the name Baseball to Sissy-ball. I've never seen a group of grown men who are afraid of getting hit by a pitch, getting spiked sliding into a base. Now they are wearing mitts once they get on first place. Where are the rule makers when it comes to this. These players wear enough hardware when they come to bat ,that may as well just put on an Astronauts suit and helmet. They are more concerned on how they look in uniform than playing the REAL game of baseball and how it was meant to be played. Yeah you might get hit by a pitch or get spiked sliding into a base, or God forbid a collision at the plate. The game has changed, the rules have changed and it's taken away the game and how it was meant to be played. Look these guys, if they know how to manage their money can play one year and retire if they want. If they get a career ending injury, I'm sure they will be just fine financially. That's the nature of sports and life so deal with it and play the game like it's been played for more than a hundred years.
