I feel like this year is the tipping point of a possible 5-6 run for the Cubs being a top contender. I don’t think saddling yourself with a 8-10 Bellinger contract is feasible considering all the potential that the team has at all levels in the minors. I don’t like the tail wagging the dog approach that Boras utilizes. They have a competitive roster right now and can definitely add at the trade deadline. This is a very delicate balance that Hoyer has to deal with and throwing $ at it just because you have it is extremely short sighted.
