Vegas Odds: Chicago Bears vs. Carolina Panthers

by - Correspondent -

The over-hit in a Chicago Bears game for the first time this season. That appears to have been reflected slightly in the over / under when the Bears take on the Carolina Panthers this coming Sunday (Noon / FOX) as the over / under set at 41.5.

Chicago is favored to win by four points, according to DraftKings.

It seems clear that the best bet in this game is for the Bears to cover the spread. Going against the Panthers, this should be a victory. They have no excuse to lose this game. Furthermore, in their wins this season, they have won by an average of 6.5 points. In addition, Chicago has won seven consecutive home games, the longest active streak in the league. Therefore, count on the Bears to win and cover the spread.

For the over/under, I have to go with the over. Since Andy Dalton has taken over at quarterback for Carolina, they have scored an average of 30 points.

While I do not believe they will score that many points, 20 is not outside the realm of possibility. Chicago also scored 24 points in both games they have won. I believe they score more than that against the Panthers, as the offense has finally gotten something going with the run game. Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams has not turned the ball over at home, which led to a solid performance against the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday. Therefore, I think this game will hit the over.

While Williams had a solid game, he only had 157 passing yards. Something about the Bears offense leads the Heisman winner to have minimal passing yards when Chicago wins. DraftKings currently has -185 odds for Williams to throw at least 200 yards in this game and +110 for him to have at least 225 passing yards. Carolina allows Williams to show what he can do with his arm and put up more passing yards by taking some deep shots. If Chicago gains an early lead, that could hamper Williams’ passing productivity, but I still believe he throws for at least 225 passing yards against the Panthers.

If Williams is going to take some big shots down the field because wide receiver DJ Moore is going to have Carolina’s best cornerback on him in Jaycee Horn, there may be more of an opportunity for Williams to take a shot to rookie receiver Rome Odunze. DraftKings has +130 odds on Odunze having at least 40 receiving yards; one big play can easily take care of that. This is definitely a bet worth making.

After Williams is done throwing for 225 passing yards with a big play to Odunze, Chicago is probably going to run the ball more. That is where running back D’Andre Swift comes in. The Bears will try to establish the run game early in the game, but more of his production will probably come later. His odds of rushing for at least 60 yards are +155. He had 93 rushing yards last game, and even if he does not quite hit that, he should have at least 60 rushing yards.

Same Game Parlay

In a same-game parlay with Chicago covering the spread, the over-hitting, Williams having at least 225 passing yards, Odunze having at least 40 receiving yards, and Swift having at least 60 rushing yards has odds of +1800, according to DraftKings. Therefore, a $5 bet would result in a $95 payout.
