Bears News: Justin Fields ruled out with injury against Vikings |
Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus held his Wednesday press conference and shared that starting quarterback Justin Fields is out for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Fields had an MRI on his hip after it was sore today at Halas Hall, and it came back as a hip strain. The injury is not concerned long-term, according to Eberflus. In his second pro season, Fields has thrown for 2,242 yards and rushed for 1,143 yards this season. He is 63 yards shy of the NFL single-season rushing record for a quarterback. Backup journeyman quarterback Nathan Peterman will start against the Vikings. Smart move by the Bears to shut down Fields as there is no reason for him to play in the final game of the season, especially since they are still in the running to get the No. 1 overall pick with a loss and a Texans' win over the Colts.
