Two Cubs teammates named as NL CY Young finalists

Cubs teammates Jon Lester and Kyle Hendricks were announced as finalists for the National League CY Young Award on Monday evening.

Lester was 3-1 with a 2.02 ERA in five starts in the postseason. He was 19-5 with 2.44 ERA with 197 strikeouts and a 1.02 WHIP this season. In three postseason starts in 21 innings, he gave up only 14 hits, two runs, two walks, and 14 strikeouts going 2-0.

Hendricks was 1-1 with a 1.42 ERA in five starts in the postseason. He was 16-8 with 2.13 ERA with 170 strikeouts and a 0.98 ERA.

The other finalist was Max Scherzer of the Nationals. The winner of the National League CY Young will be named on Nov. 16.
