Former Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward makes ridiculously bad play

by - Senior Editor -

Jason Heyward has been known for his exceptional defensive abilities throughout his career, earning five Gold Glove awards and being regarded as one of the best defensive outfielders in the game.

However, on Tuesday night's game against the Dodgers, Heyward had a moment that he would like to forget.

In the game, Heyward had a chance to make a routine catch in right field, but the ball popped out of his glove, and he tumbled down to the grass.

As if that was not enough, the ball rolled away from him, leading to a costly error that allowed a run to score.

While Heyward's defense has been a huge asset for him throughout his career, his offensive struggles have been a major hindrance to his overall performance.

Heyward's batting average this season stands at .192, and his on-base percentage is only .290. His three home runs have contributed to a wRC+ of 114, just above league average.

On the other hand, Cubs center fielder Cody Bellinger has not missed a beat with his defensive play.

Bellinger, who is known for his versatility and exceptional defense, has been a reliable presence in the outfield for the Cubs this season.

He has not committed any errors, and his range and arm strength have been valuable assets for the team. Plus, he is starting to rake at the plate.

It appears that 'Belli' will be a huge upgrade over 'J-Hey' in the outfield for the Cubs in 2023.

Check out J-Hey's miscue below:
