Triple-A starting pitcher Eddie Butler will make his Cubs debut on Friday night against the rival St. Louis Cardinals according to ESPN's Jesse Rogers. He will take the spot in the rotation this turn from injured starter Brett Anderson who is on the disabled list with a back injury.

The pitching probables for the three-game series against the Cardinals include Butler vs. Mike Leake (Friday), Jon Lester vs. Michael Wacha (Saturday), and Jake Arrieta vs. Carlos Martinez (Sunday).

In 2017, Butler has a 1.17 ERA in five starts over 30.2 innings at Triple-A Iowa. For his major league career, he has a record of 6-16 with 6.50 ERA, 94 strikeouts, and 1.77 WHIP.

The 26-year old was acquired from Colorado in the offseason and selected by the Rockies in the first round of the 2012 MLB Draft.
